What should a small business marketing strategy cover first?

Start with the customers and jobs you want more of, then make sure local buyers can find you, understand what you do and reach someone quickly. Channels and campaigns come after that foundation is in place.

The first four decisions

  • Which services and customers are most valuable to the business?
  • Which towns or neighborhoods can you serve well?
  • What does a buyer need to see before they call: work examples, prices, process, reviews?
  • Who answers new inquiries, and how fast?

Then the foundation

Accurate Google Business Profile details, a website page for each main service and location, and a simple review routine carry most local intent. Missed-call text back and follow-up keep those inquiries from slipping away.

Once inquiries are traceable, paid campaigns can be tested against booked work rather than clicks.
